Why are some of my receipts showing as "unlinked"?
In certain cases, unlinked receipts can occur when loans have been reversed or canceled, especially for promissory notes in an "UNKNOWN STATE."
This means the transaction isn't currently associated with a specific loan and doesn't impact the client's loan balance until it's linked.
Here's how to address unlinked transactions:
Refund the Client: If the unlinked payment is for a closed or duplicate loan, create a new refund transaction for the exact amount.
Link the Payment:
Locate a loan with an outstanding balance.
Link the unlinked transaction to this loan and mark it as a capital contribution towards an existing installment.
Note: Linking requires an outstanding loan balance. By creating a temporary "unlinked" refund transaction, you can create a temporary balance to allow for linking.
In simpler terms: Think of it like having an extra payment due to a mix-up. To connect this payment to the right loan, we create a temporary "placeholder" transaction to show the money coming back in. This lets us link the original payment to the loan and correct the issue.
