In certain cases, unlinked receipts can occur when loans have been reversed or canceled, especially for promissory notes in an "UNKNOWN STATE." This means the transaction isn't currently associated with a specific loan and doesn't impact the client's loan balance until it's linked.
Here's how to address unlinked transactions:
Refund the Client: If the unlinked payment is for a closed or duplicate loan, create a new refund transaction for the exact amount.
Link the Payment:
Locate a loan with an outstanding balance.
Link the unlinked transaction to this loan and mark it as a capital contribution towards an existing installment.
Note: Linking requires an outstanding loan balance. By creating a temporary "unlinked" refund transaction, you can create a temporary balance to allow for linking.
In simpler terms: Think of it like having an extra payment due to a mix-up. To connect this payment to the right loan, we create a temporary "placeholder" transaction to show the money coming back in. This lets us link the original payment to the loan and correct the issue.
